Shawna Sherman

Shawna Sherman is the program manager for the African American Center at the San Francisco Public Library, where she works to hold space for stories about the history and culture of Black people through programming, outreach and collections at the Center. In 2021, she was named a Library Journal Mover & Shaker for her work as a "changemaker" at the library. A former newspaper reporter, she is also an amateur historian, emerging poet, and author of "Effie Lee Morris: Advocate for Children, Advocate for Self Care" in the journal Libraries: Culture, History and Society. Shawna is a board member of the San Francisco African American Historical and Cultural Society.
